KinderReaders® is now officially registered with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, ensuring that the name continues to stand for trusted, high-quality early literacy resources. If you’re looking for the original KinderReaders—you’ve found it!
KinderReaders was founded in 2003 by Sandi Reyes, a passionate kindergarten teacher searching for a better way to support every learner. By combining differentiated instruction and a strong home-school connection, she created a collection of printable and digital books designed to meet students where they are. Each story is available in four reading levels, along with wordless versions for storytelling, writing prompts, and added flexibility.
In the early days, Sandi partnered with Amanda at A to Z Teacher Stuff, launching KinderReaders into classrooms around the world. In 2010, Sandi passed the torch to Amanda, who updated the series with new illustrations, teacher guides, and leveled reading correlations. Digital and interactive formats were added over time, with even more enhancements underway.
Coming Soon: The Decodable Phonics Series
The best of both worlds! We’re developing a brand-new decodable phonics series aligned with research-based phonics progression and the Science of Reading. These stories will feature controlled text to support sound-spelling patterns and sight word mastery while still delivering the heart and joy KinderReaders is known for. Each KinderReaders theme will feature a set of decodable readers to reinforce phonics skills at a variety of levels.
KinderReaders has always been more than just a reading series; it’s a trusted tool for teachers and families committed to helping children become lifelong readers by combining the science of how reading works with the art of how stories inspire.
