The KinderReaders Story

KinderReaders was established in 2003 by Sandi Reyes, a passionate kindergarten teacher looking for a better way to reach each and every student.  By combining the ideas of differentiated instruction, basic guided reading principles, and the creation of a strong home/school partnership, our basic line of products was created.

KinderReaders features a year-long series of digital & printable books designed for guided reading. Each story is available at four different reading levels, ensuring that every student can read on their own level. For further differentiation, we even offer wordless versions for students to write custom stories.

Early on, Sandi partnered with Amanda at A to Z Teacher Stuff. Featuring KinderReaders at A to Z Teacher Stuff propelled the series into the hands of educators worldwide and KinderReaders became an instant bestseller. By 2010, Sandi passed the torch to Amanda. The updated edition of the titles featured a new set of illustrations, a teaching guide and supporting materials.  Each of the books were later correlated to standard leveling systems for guided reading including Fountas & Pinnell, Reading Recovery, and more. Our latest editions feature interactive books that can be read on-screen and even more features are planned in the near future, including updated and new titles.

KinderReaders is more than a reading series; it’s a community of teachers and parents working together to grow joyful readers. We are here to support you and your students.
